Someone gave me the seeds of this Salvia, but neglected to say what the name is.
Any one recognise it?

Definitely not an Origanum. I have a few of those. The leaves are very aromatic, but not of marjoram. Neither of us can put a name to the scent.

Thanks. It seems to be a pale bracted form of Salvia sclarea as you say.

Just got back from Bodnant Gardens and guess what was growing all over the place, with a label?

Hi Owdboggy, well, would you believe it! Nice to have confirmation though. Noticed today that my buds are opening and heading vertical. So lovely.

It reminds me not of a sage, but of Oreganum 'Kent Beauty' - not sure about the leaves though.
