Bought Cherry Tree about 3ft high have had it in pot for about a month. It has produced several stems soft growth from base. Should I remove these? Have just planted it into raised bed in Polycrub( Shetland version of Polytunnel).

Yes break these stems off as near to the trunk as you can. they will be growing from the root stock not the scion.
