I must have planted this a few years ago and it dissapeared, it has now suddenly popped up and cant even remember planting it. since no one else has lived here I must have!! I have Mrs. Chamondelay, The President and this I thought looked exactly like Mrs Chamondelay, but the centre is quite different. I have looked up the books, Richard Parnell, W.E.Gladston and H.F.Young but not exactly like them, only in colour. There are so many of these Clematis it is almost impossable to name it. Since I joined Goy I am more carefull to log the names onto my Plants.

Thanks Helenf', Bamboo & SBG, I think I have found it, have tried many times on internet but a new blue Clematis page appeared when looking your suggestions up, and Multi-Blue appeared and I think it fills the Bill! I do remember buying a multi blue some years ago, but it went down instead of up!! it obviously pouted and took a long time to think about having another go at survival Lets hope the roots have had a good chance to develope
