gooseberry trouble

Last year lost all my gooseberry's to mildew , I moved them to a sunnier part of garden and all seemed well but the gooseberries have started going white again . Is there anything I can do? it's not that bad yet.

I think you told me that at the end of last year , so I pruned out the middles a bit Seaburn , does this disease stay with the plants or is it just a matter of getting conditions right somehow . Im just wondering if I will need to throw them away

Its a type of fungus so i am sure you will be able to buy a spray for it. make sure you lift all dropped leaves and dont compost them.
i wouldnt throw them away just yet. as once conditions are right and its not too wet they should be ok.

If you do not like chemical sprays, then try 1 part full cream milk to 9 parts water as a spray for mildew.
Also keep the bushes well watered. as mildew is often associated with dryness at the roots.

I think you will have to prune the plants so they have a more open structure next year. the more open the more air circulates and the less mildew etc.
