My 50+ year old hedge is diseased so we are cutting it down to the roots. An ideas on what is best to kill the roots once the hedge is removed?

You'd need patience for that, though. We can't wait that long, as the hedge acts as a wind break as well as a barrier to stop farm animals from straying into my garden. We're having a wall built instead - more planting space for me! lol.

Good thinking! That would make a big diference in how difficult it'll be for Massa to get rid of it.

We have the same problem. Our Leylandii hedge is dying, so we're removing it. As the rootballs will be so huge, like trees, we're getting a mini-digger in. The alternative is a stump-grinder.
