Has anyone any experience of growing wallflowers in cells? I think when you buy them in the GC they have been grown in a field, as they are covered in soil with a long tap root, I can't imagine how they will react to 2" cells, I see the mail order people are selling them so it must work somehow.

« Why do my carrots fork? They are in a fertile, well drained good tilth soil.
Next question
I grow them in cells until they are filling the cells and large enough to plant out in a nursery bed or similar. You could just pot them on into bigger pots if you don't have very many, but a nursery bed will ensure that they grow lovely healthy root systems. They may suffer from drought (ha ha) if kept in small cells for too long. They make much better, larger more floriferous plants if grown in the ground.
