WHAT ARE THESE BUGS ON MY FIR TREE 30FOOT TALL EX CHRISTMAS TREE

THESE LITTLE BUGS APPEARED LAST WEEK AND ARE COVERING THE UNDERSIDE OF ALL THE BRANCHES./ THEY APPEAR TO BE COMING FROM THE BASE OF THE TREE UPWORDS AND CANT FLY. I LIVE IN THE SCOTTISH BORDERS NEAR BERWICK UPON TWEED ON THE EAST COAST

could be Cinara cupressi, sap sucking beasts that will eventually kill parts of the conifer if not dealt with, try provado ultimate bug killer on them unlessyou are organic, then try soap and water mix, but i wouldn't hold out any hope using this.

If you're not too squeamish, how about brushing them into a bucket first, as many as you can. Then destroy them in your chosen method. (maybe drowning?) Then spray the tree. That way, you won't have to use too much in the way of chemicals and destroy any good bugs.
