Why have my Box topiary balls turned yellowy white

I have 2 medium sized box balls in containers outside the kitchen door. They are about 3 years old & I have grown them from small. They have grown well but after a recent pruning the tops have turned a yellowy white as if bleached. I keep them watered & fed but I noticed a white fluffy down on some leaves before I pruned them. Would be grateful if anyone has any ideas, thanks

Thank you - that sounds about right - maybe in future I should only prune when cooler - will bear that in mind. Thanks for the advice!

White fluffy down - might be powdery mildew? If so, spray with an appropriate fungicide. The yellowy white tops might also be due to strong sunshine in the last week or so on the newly cropped tops.
