Dying privet hedge

Ihave a privet hedge growing up one side of my garden.But it has started to die at one end and is slowly working its way up the hedge.

check for honey fungus. this is a typical syptom of it.
also have you raised the soil level against the base of the hedge. this too will cause the privet to die back.
