Maybe a Cornus, Dogwood, of some sort?

Maybe I should have added that it has a very woody stem...maybe that will help as well.

I think it might be a very young Ailanthus altissima, or Tree of Heaven, judging by the little 'hooks' or teeth towards the base of the leaves and the reddish stems.

Hi Bamboo and Bulbaholic. Thanks for your answers. I have now checked the i-net and it sure looks like a Ailanthus....if it is I think I will bin it before it gets any bigger and spreads itself!!!!!!!!!.
