I grew some codonopsis pilosula from seeds. I now have several small plants a couple of months old. The stems are very long and thin. Should I pinch out the tops to make the plant stronger? Should I be supporting the stems upward now or wait until the stems are stronger?

No, leave them alone, Ann. They are a climbing plant that grows from a bulb. In a month or so they will die back to grow again next year. They have very narrow stems at the base of the plant which thickens as it scrambles through shrubs.

pinch out leaves if you want it abit more bushy and when the stems are long enough (starting to go everywhere) then support them.
