Newbie London flat-dweller needs your help

I live in a flat in west London and would like to grow my own herbs and vegetables on my small balcony. The trouble is that the balcony is east-facing and only receives sunlight first thing in the morning, very little in winter and always gets VERY chilly at night, unless we're having a heatwave. Is there anything I could grow on my balcony? I have a number of indoor potted plants and they've done very well, because my flat is warm and I've placed them on a south-facing windowsill. I'm thinking I could germinate plants in the flat before planting out in gro-bags. Any advice anyone?

Most veggies require lots of sun.....you might be ok with lettuces tho as they do ok with a bit of shade. Might be a case of trial and error...

Can't help with the veggie question, not my field, but herbs require hot dry sun, by and large. Maybe you should grow them inside, on the windowsill. If you didn't want veggies, there are certain decorative plants you could put on the balcony.
