Carol Klein, on Gardeners' World, said that slugs and snails don't go for foxgloves, so what has munched every bit of mine? Having waited patiently for over a year for that wonderful flower, "something" beat me to it !

Many thanks, Kildermorie. I think I'll give up on Foxgloves, but I won't give up on Carol Klein !

Plants I found slugs tend to leave well alone for me are Hellebore, Fatsia Japonica, Palms, Jacobs Ladder, Aconites, Mahonia, Lavender, Rosemary, Mint and Eryngium. If you can pot on Foxglove till it is large enough to survive a chew then they do fine.

Is this the reason you never find a slug or snail with heart failure? (All that digitalis!)

i find slimeys will only eat foxgloves if there is little else on their menu about. So maybe Carols garden is so full of other edibles that her foxgloves don't get munched.

Many thanks, everyone. Perhaps I should have munched the foxgloves myself, Bertiefox. With salad, perhaps ?

Aarrgghh!! only if you are feeling suicidal over your foxgloves' failure, Rosie! : (
In my experience, slugs and snails will eat foxgloves of any size, here, though the younger and tenderer, the better for them.

Slugs will eat Foxglove leaves, esp seedling and first year leaves. They tend not to eat second year leaves or the stalk/flowers. Have certainly seen Foxglove seedlings of mine being eaten to bits by slugs.
