I have 42 lavender plants about 4-5" tall now and want to start planting out. Even though I have had a lot of slug damage this year, am are right in thinking that slugs will not eat them.

Thanks Inverglen - thats good to know as I thought they left lavender alone.

Lavender and Rosemary seem to be totally resistant to them. You prob do not need me to say but if you add lots of gravel around the Lavender it helps them establish as it stops root rot and makes the soil loose for them to get their roots into.

Thanks Kildermorie, thats great to hear. They are replacing my old ones and the soil is poor and already full of grit. Lavenders do very well for me, but they were about 8 years old and woody. I had 42 free mixed English ones and have been growing them on, so out the old ones and in with the new.

Never had any insect or mollusc damage on any of my lavenders or herbs in general. I'm probably teaching my granny to suck eggs (sorry Denise) but never be tempted to feed lavender, however poor the soil seems. That's what I've been told!

I agree with you I dont water or feed Gattina. I have never had any eaten but just wanted to check when they are so small that slugs will not gobble the lot.

They seem to have attacked so many plants this year but my lavenders , young and old, have been untouched.
