I have two African Violets sitting on my windowsill, they both seem to have two new little plantlets growing which are sprouting a flower stem. is it possible to part these from the main plant or is this normal for African Violets.

If the new growth is a rosette form, it is considered a new plant and should be separated to give it enough space to grow. This is common for African violets to sprout new plants from the roots. You can also cut off a leaf and stick it into some soil in a shallow container, then put it under a bell jar or other glass cover and the leaf will grow roots from which a new plant will emerge:)
