And if it's seed, when about 4 inches tall, taking off only an inch for the first few cuts, then 2 inches, and then down to the recommended cut for the grass seed sown, usually an inch.

If its turf? the instructions on mine said mow on a high cut after 3 weeks, keep well watered and dont feed until next year.
