Wisteria are very successful container plants. Some years ago I gave a friend W.sinensis Alba to grow in a 30 litre container. The aim was to cover a bare wall. Some 15 years later and one repotting it has covered the wall and flowers exceptionally every year.

I have seen them grow as Standards in a pot, and in very large pots as a vine, so yes but I think it depends on variety (Chinese, Japanese and American). I think American is the one to try in a pot but am open for others to comment and advise. Like all climbers they will prefer to grow in the earth.
