Can you transplant clematis,if so when is the best time?

Want to dig up 2 clematis and transplant. what is the best way to do this..thanks

depends on the type. the summer and late summer ones best in early spring. the winter and spring flowering ones best done nowish. but prunethe foliage down and keep well watered through the summer.
in either case prepare the planting hole in advance and take as much soil around the root ball as you can.
plant to the same depth as previously.
