privet cuttings

How do i go about growing privet from cuttings?,as i want to form a formal hedge around my front garden.

Easy peasy. If you stick a piece of privet twig with a heel (that's where it joins the stem)in the ground it'll more than likely grow! If you want to do it properly, take a tip cutting with at least two pairs of leaves. Dip in rooting hormone (liquid is best) and insert the cuttings round the edge of a six inch pot filled with moist, good multi-purpose compost. No need for a greenhouse. Just leave in a sheltered spot until signs of new growth appear.
