the 'break your neck bed'..............

Persuaded tony that we needed to spend money on ‘shrubbery’ for the break you neck bed!
Surprisingly he volunteered £50 without too much of a fight! So I got to spend 1/2 hour doing what I like best, picking out plants.
Three purple leaved shrubs- one’s called ‘black lace’ I think and is a type of elderflower. one ground cover rose which I plan to have cascading over the fence.
A gold heart ivy to grow up the fence from the bottom
These will join the geraniums I have already planted and the ground cover plants that I’m transplanting from my garden.
that leaves 3 shrub roses for £10 from B & Q!
So tomorrow I get to plant them up………
photos to follow…………………..
I found out what this amazing plant is = ECHIUM, not only that but found a company who sells the seeds! (www.plant-world-seeds.com) So next year across the wall at the far end I’m planing to put these 10 foot beauties, pink ones of course! Now I’ll be impressed it I get them to germinate.

I tried one once but it died :-(( I'd try again but I was told that they need lots of space (in the planting area not just height) How much space do you grow yours in? Yours really look good and certainly make a statement!

Echiums are tall aren't they. I've never grown them.

Well I have a 30ft. planting bed which is mostly empty at the moment, so I am looking for big plants anyway. Just a shame its going to take about a year till their ready to go out...........
the ones in the picture where taken on holiday. Really fascinated me enough to find out what they where and buy some seeds. Which are in the green house now waiting to see what happens!
