Red 'Picking' Lettuce Seed
Garden Centre > Seeds & Bulbs > Eden Project Seeds
Lettuce originated in the Mediterranean region where it was thought of as a weed. It has, however, been cultivated as a salad vegetable for over 4500 years. The name Lettuce derives from the Latin Lac which means Milk - a reference to the milky juice found in the plant. Although in Europe it is used primarily for salads, in China they are used in cooking and the stem is as important as the leaves. Granada is a new picking type - pick off and use leaves as required.
