A native to the British Isles, this lime forms a handsome, round-headed tree with glossy, dark green leaves. In midsummer, tiny ivory-coloured flowers are produced which are sweetly scented and very attractive to bees. It is a large tree that is more suitable for growing as a specimen tree or in an avenue.Garden care: Avoid very dry conditions and keep out of strong winds. Limes prefer alkaline to neutral soil, but they will tolerate acidic soil. Requires minimal pruning. Remove any broken, diseased or crossing branches in late autumn or winter when it is completely dormant. When planting incorporate lots of well-rotted garden compost in the planting.
