Onion Sets F1 Hyred Heat Treated

The first F1 hybrid red onion from sets! Hyred is one of the latest to mature, giving a heavy crop of crimson bulbs in early September. Hybrid vigour gives a consistent semi globe shape and the flavour of the pink tinged flesh is spicy and robust. And with one of the highest proportions of dry matter it stores well into the spring.Heat Treated Onion Sets - These sets are specially heat treated over a period of 20 weeks to reduce the risk of premature bolting (running to seed). As a result of this process the skins of the sets become darker and the moisture content lower and initial growth may be slower than normal. However, the growth soon speeds up and the results will be significantly better than un-treated sets.Please note: Heat treated sets are not available until early April and will be despatched separately. Heat treated sets are low in moisture. Initial growth may be slow but soon accelerates.
