This lightweight (11kg) compact and highly manoeuvrable electric scarifier from U.S. brand-leaders MTD is ideal for smaller lawns where soil-compaction and/or thatch build-up has become a problem. Its long-lasting 1100w induction-type motor powers a set of specially tailored fixed metal blades that will either (depending on the working-height setting) cut into the turf so as to facilitate better penetration of moisture and nutrients; or delicately comb-out any moss or weed accumulation in order to allow the grass to breathe. The MTD VE30 Electric Verticutter is equipped with a robust poly housing that will flex rather than break upon impact and which will never succumb to corrosion. It has a belt-drive rather than a solid crank so any excessive load will be easily absorbed; and it offers three preset working-depths so you can select a position that will be most effective for the task in hand. A large-capacity thatch-catcher is available as an optional extra.
