Toro have nearly a century of experience when it comes to lawn maintenance knowledge and design and they have created this sturdy and multi-featured self-propelled lawn mower with the rigours of commercial use in mind. From the engine to the deck every component is precision made and will stand the test of time like the die-cast aluminium deck the thickest in the industry at 6mm made to resist the tough day to day bumps and bangs of professional work. The engine is a commercial grade Kawasaki FJ180 4-stroke ultra reliable and powerful and designed to work under professional conditions. It is air-cooled and has an overhead valve so is more compact with smoother less noisy and economic performance. It delivers 3.5kw with 179cc. Proving its rugged credentials this mower features a robust and hardwearing 25 mm crankshaft and this in turn is protected by a steel crankshaft guard to resist potential impacts. The long-range fuel tank supplied with this model takes up to 3.8 litres so you can operate for longer and don?t have to fill up quite so often. A variable 3-speed gearbox is fitted that propels the mower at speeds from 2 to 4 miles per hour. A blade brake clutch (BBC) is fitted to the Toro 22188TE. This stops the blade from spinning while the engine keeps running. This means you don?t have to keep re-starting if you need to stop cutting for a moment to move something out of the way or open a gate so it is a great safety feature and subsequently it saves on time and puts less wear on the recoil chord and starting mechanism. With mulching this helps keep the clippings in the chamber so they can be cut time and time again before being deposited in amongst the grass blades of the lawn to break-down and feed it compost style for that green and healthy look. With the cut and collect function the air current helps carry the clippings back into the grass collector which combined with the fabric of the collector that allows air through keeps blades from clumping and prevents blockage ensures maximum use of the space so you have to stop fewer times to empty. The capacity of the grass container is a highly practical 68.1 litres. The blade of this mower is fitted with an accelerator which enhances speed and ensures efficiency and an anti-scalp cup is fitted to the hub. This protects the lawn even when cutting close over humps and uneven terrain. If you need to cut under different conditions or vary the height for aesthetic reasons you can take advantage of the 4-point cutting controlled by four handy and sturdy levers at each wheel. Cutting heights vary from a close and low 25mm up to 89mm and there are six positions altogether. The wheels on the Toro 22188TE Heavy Duty Aluminium Deck Lawn Mower are designed for low maintenance made of steel with sealed ball bearings for a smooth run and a longer working life. The pivot arms are also made of steel. The wheels are fitted with semi-pneumatic radial style tyres. A full two-year manufacturers warranty is included with this mower.
