Here's a lovely shrub to plant as groundcover. Potentilla fruticosa 'Medicine Wheel Mountain' grows almost prostrate, forming a mat of small grey green leaves and being covered in a mass of bright yellow flowers for many months of the summer and into autumn. It is great in a gravel garden or in the rockery. With its spreading habit, it also does a fine job of smothering unwanted weeds, so if you're keen on low maintenance gardening, this could be a good choice. Height: 50cm (20). Spread: 100cm (39).
