Patio Potatoes

I have an extensive patio and this is the first time in 20years that I’ve got back into growing.
Bags
I’ve tried the ‘garden centre’ sized bags (around £3.00 each) they’re quite small.
I also spotted some garden waste bags in my local German shop. (Pack of two for £3.00). These are much bigger and take some filling but my spuds are growing through the top ups quite nicely.
Tyres
Well I just had to try this too. My local scrap yard gave me unusable tyres, so I got five.
The spuds have grown to the top nicely too.
I’m just waiting to harvest in a few months time. I have a tarpaulin ready to tip out my bags and tyres.
I have used loads of compost bags. This is my first year back so I should have less to buy next year.

We can't seem to grow potatoes in compost bags. Maybe tyres would work!
Anyone remember a man who used to grow POUNDS and POUNDS of potatoes in one sack? He used to appear on TV news (?). I was impressed, but was lucky if I got a dozen small potatoes!

Ive seen this tyre idea before .Its handy as u just add tyres as u earth up and then it's easy to harvest.particulalry if you want to just harvest a few at a time............just take the top one or two tyres off and put back afterwards.....well, it sounds easy although, I've never grown in tyres!
