Silvasava - Garden Update

Well, my veg garden is starting to be productive. I’ve 4 tomato plants & two cucumber plants in my greenhouse. Tomatoes beginning to fruit & already had about 6 cucumbers. I planted up some Strawberries in a couple of pots & have had a good result from those too. I also have a bed of Alpine Strawberries – I love them as they produce right up to early November if the weather is OK. This last couple of weeks I’ve gone down with my cereal bowl & picked them to have with my cereal in the morning – bliss!!
I put in a couple of rows of Broad Beans for my husband as I dont like them – but guess what, having tasted the fresh ones I love them! I planted up another couple of rows & chopped the old ones down ready to dig out the roots but with the recent rain they have all started sprouting again so I’m giving them a second chance!

Thanks Irish - read your entry & that you're trying fruit. I bought a Jostaberry off the interent this year. Saw it in my Uncle's garden - its a cross between a blackcurrant & goosberry. The berry is the size of a goosberry but tastes like a blackcurrant. Its only about 18 inches high but maybe next year I'll have some fruit - keep my fingers crossed!

Hi Mobee - the alpine strawbs are smaller but very prolific esp if you give them a bit of TLC - they really do repay the effort!
Good Luck
