Without any snow I'm enjoying seeing things go into winter dormancy without being blanketed. This is a nice bunch of ground covering lichens and moss classic to a tundra landscape

Thank you. :-) This is a great walk. I had a friend visiting and we hiked this trail, enjoying the extended fall. I walked it this spring and posted some all snow pics, this was much more pleasant. :-) I'll share more. Unfortunately, only half is still like this, fire has scourged most of this area from 2003.

DO the deer eat the lichens like they do in Scotland.

Thank you. The colors were so bold with the sun at this angle. We don't have any deer, but reindeer and caribou do eat the lichen. Moose forage more on the shrubs and underwater plants in the bogs.
