We have a small garden which we are gradually 'making our own' having moved here about 18 months ago.
I'm gradually replacing trees and shrubs which were too large for their situation and not paying back enough (in terms of shape / colour / etc.) for the space they were taking up. Grissellina and Overgrown and bramble-entangled Escallonia for instance have been removed. I've planted several Camelia and am currently putting in some climbers providing colour and scent through the year. I've also been rejuvenating the rockery which was full of unsuitable plants - and weeds! and have planted, among other things some interesting Rhodohypoxis.
I've also started growing vegetables. (This is year 1 and I've had successes and failures and learned a great deal.) And, I've just got a little greenhouse.
