Putting final potting plants outside today. Undecided about new compost , Just feel it does not seem to show an improvement on my usual compost. Quality of Tomatoes may prove me wrong. Growing method however seems to be quite good . Baskets now very promising, plenty of greenery love it . Wildlife good but the birds appear to be getting much larger this year. Robins not so many because of that. Got far to hot in greenhouse today (105 f ) even with door and window open. Looks like my electric propagator may have to vacate from rear bedroom back to greenhouse next year. My good lady wants to re- arrange the furniture. All is well though and am even now planning next years growing. Take care Tony

Ravens are nesting in Boughton Park I hear. Two miles north of me. Saw two 3 years ago over near Oundle, frightened me they are so big. Then saw them again over north of Brigstock the year after. Must have escaped from the Tower of London if someone forgot to clip their wings.
Seems they fancy bedding down with the Duke of Buccleuch now. He can have them !
We have Red Kites over Kettering now, I sometimes see them from my armchair . Word is the Buzzards drive them out.
Just hope they all keep off my garden.

We ahve them on the cliffs here. I saw parents see off a buzzard that was eyeing the fledgelings - the poor buzzard - they are brilliant at gliding but not very good at a quick getaway!

Tony, which composts are you comparing?

Hi Steragram Well I was assured the local recycle depot was producing a good compost but am now not very impressed. I am of a mind to go back to my usual compost next season J Arthur Bowers by name. Guess I bought the recycle compost in haste, but I wanted to see if my information was ok. Trial and error move really. Have tried so many composts but Bowers takes some beating Sterra. Take care Tony
