Blooming lavender rose...

This miniature rose is a survivor! I bought it for $1.99 at Kroger’s (a grocery store) and watched as one of the two little plants died, until I was left with essentially just a rose twig in a pot. It survived the winter though it had lost nearly all its leaves, but I persevered and kept watering it. This is how it looked on June 22:
Once I had more time for the garden I started feeding it organic fertilizer (Rose Food by Rabbit Hill Farm) and also a few drops of Miracle Gro when I watered it, dissolved in the water. By mid-June it had grown a bit and sprouted some new leaves:
While I thought (hoped) it would grow some more, I never expected that it would actually flower so soon! Here it is on July 11:
And finally on July 14:
Isn’t it beautiful?? I just love it.

Thank you Heron and Grannysue, I do like to think the flower reacted to all the care...most people think that's a crazy concept but plants are living things, after all...it's the smallest rose I have but with the biggest flower!

I have some Kroger plants too! They had a few houseplants marked down last week, but I had no place to put them so I behaved myself.

How satisfying, the rose is obviously rewarding you for saving it's life. I'm sure you'll take extra care of it now and become good pals for a long time.
