Ramblings from a Newbie Blogger

Well, I’ve never written a blog before, but rambling on is something I am good at.
My plant(s) of the Week is from my back garden. The cyclamen are flowering their socks off at the moment. I’ll submit further offerings if anything strikes me as worthy.
This year’s wet weather has meant that my grass is lovely and green, not golden straw as in previous summers. Everything has grown wonderfully, and not a stunted, drought-stricken thing is to be seen. The camellia is fattening nice buds for next year, without me having to chuck buckets of water at it. Sorry if you live in an area affected by flooding………….
Having said all that, I long for the warmth of the sun on my back again – we gardeners are never happy with what we’re given!

Well, Chris, as you well know, we in the UK have been envying your sunshine from afar all the so-called 'summer' - so although I am pleased for you, yes, really! We'd all still like some sunshine and warmth over here as Shirleypoppy says. From the forecasts, though, that just isn't going to happen. :-( Challenge is the right word! Hallo Shirleypoppy, by the way!

I like these cyclamen aswell. I brought some from my old garden when I moved here but I don't know what I've done with them. I'll have to look under some shrubs I think. Thay must be here somewhere.
I like the colours of these two plants together.
All the best, Hywel.

I love the cyclamen, especially the small ones, mine are also in flower, I have them dotted all over the garden, under shrubs. That is a lovely colour shirley, might just have to go and get another.

I love your intro to yourself. Your comment about your husbands contribution made me smile! My partner has a wooden sign up near his favourite chair in our kitchen, from where he watches me hard at work in the garden, which reads 'Bugger the garden I'm watching the football'!

I guess we don't often get perfect weather, but then that's what makes gardening an interesting challenge. Having said that I'm revelling in the fact that it feels almost perfect here today in Hungary, because the temps dropped to mid 20's from the impossible heat of previous days, and we had a good downpour this morning which was desperately needed with this afternoon turning out pleasantly sunny. Isn't life wonderful.
