About me

We live in Hungary with cold winters and hot dry summers. Our soil is very light and sandy. We are often away from home so cannot always water our garden as often as needed. If anyone has advice about which plants will do best under these conditions we would be glad to hear.
Our garden is 1/3 acre, and was a smallholding and vineyard before we came. It was bare where dogs and poultry had run. It also had lots of wire fencing and concrete that we did not want. We had to get it all cleared before we could even think about a garden.

We are trying to create a garden to relax in when at home, in fact a typical English garden with lots of flowers much to the surprise of our neighbours. They grow lots of cucumbers, paprika's, melons and grapes and work constantly in their gardens in the summer,

The picture of me was taken by the Sea of Galilee in Israel in Jan 2008.
