Isn't nature wonderful?

This plant was a tight bud at 8.00 am this morning and by 10.00 am just look at it!!
Defies belief how nature produces these complex, colourful yet perfect flowers – and manages to repeat the process too!
Simply wonderful!
I am so enjoying my garden, although have to admit that everything has grown ginormous this year. I only have a small garden as you know, but plants that grew to 1 – 2 ft in previous years have all grown to double the size.
Still love it though.

It's a Tigridia pavonia, Tiger flower. I had some in a pot which got eaten off by the peacocks! After covering the pot with an upturned hanging basket, they survived and presented me with some lovely flowers - the first time I have had these, mine were yellow. I thought they were Montbretia/Crocosmia when they came through as the leaf is very similar, but these are much better!

They are gorgeous aren't they, rather orchid like. I've not seen a pink one, mine are yellow and orange - and slug eaten...nothing like as exotic as peacocks!

I agree about things growing big this year. My garden has gone out of control.
Pretty flower. What is it called ?

The Ophrys orchid mimics a female VIRGIN wasp in appearance, texture and even gives off the pheromone that the female wasp gives off in order to attract male wasp pollinators to its flower. All this from a plant which cannot see, feel, touch or smell yet is right on target utilizing this specific deception. Yes, as you say, nature does defy belief and yes, it is " SIMPLY WONDERFUL!".
