I live in Idaho..have a large yard & garden spaces. My problems are merely too much shade..Boise, where I live, is the city of trees & I'm always trying to get my plants more sun. My husband helps me with trimming back trees as much as possible. D/T back problems, he's built me 3 ft high compost & garden bins..which helps alot. I have lilac trees, luckily in the sun, on a dividing fence from our neighbors..a beautiful Hibiscus is in the front yard, but it only blooms in August, tho' beautiful..it's blooms last only a day..is this normal? It's surrounded by English lavender.

I've retired from nursing, after working 33 years..so now I have more time to devote to my gardens. Now I wondered how I did it before. My husband, Roger, & I like to fish, camp, fish, travel, fish..& play poker/pot luck once-twice a month w/a group of friends. Did I mention we like to fish? We have rainbow trout & kokanee in a lake nearby...& plenty of mountain waters, be it lakes, reservoirs, creeks, rivers..allot of steelhead, etc..We're really lucky. We live in a city of 25o,000 so we have access to alla city life has to offer. I will enjoy this garden web site, just discovered it.
