Hard work after work and a late night suprize

After getting off of work I couldn’t pass this gorgeous day up. It was only the second nice day in July this year, and the plants are loving it. The lilies are all budding, the tomatoes are growing quickly, and strawberry runners everywhere.
I turned over a bed roughly the size of a 12 X 4, which contained a lot of turf, and the roots out of a old shrub that I ripped out. I screened out alot of the rocks and moved the topsoil up to a raised bed I had placed beside the garage. I mixed a little sea-soil in with some peat. I’m trying to decide what to put in there so I’m not going to lime it quite yet, in case I want some acidic plants.
I’m planning on building a driftwood raised bed with a 2 X 1 border of either cedar wood chips, or bark chip mulch. I was also considering the strained rock, but decided I wanted a more natural feel.
I was digging from 4 until around 10:30, and rewarded myself with a cold beer. We took some pictures but it’s to dark so they didn’t turn out. I’ll take some new ones tomorrow.
As I was putting the tools away my wife heard some rustling in the “ugly” bed. It seems that we have a friendly helper in the garden. He’s welcome to stick around and keep an eye on things. There’s been some plant thefts from the town flower beds recently.
Off to the nursery for me tomorrow to decide what to grab. Oh, the possibilities

You sure deserved that beer, pleased things are flourishing for you and I do like your little helper, he has a happy face so is obviously pleased at what you have done so far, be careful though as he might move his family in, lol.......
