About me
I have a small (120 sq m) rear garden that slopes east away from the house. The soil is chalky but quite deep and I continue to improve it with garden compost. 5 foot fences reduce both sunshine and drying out. There is a small vegetable patch in the sunniest area. The front garden gets most of the sun and gets very dry due to open plan gardens. Both gardens have been neglected but they are improving after 4 years intermittent attention. Still trying to work out what works best but new lavender hedge has thrived as have roses, heleniums and dhalias. Small acer and cammelias have done ok in artificial acid beds. Runner and climbing french beans have thrived once established. Autumn bliss rasberries OK too.
