A busy time what with looking after my neighbours livestock 12 delinquent Chickens ,they bite when I collect there eggs, 2 Rabbits, 7 Tortoise, an injured Phesant(it was attacked by an Owl)oh and more fish than i can count ,thank god he put the 4 dogs in kennels.Well in my spare time I havepicked the Plums.
Then moved on to the Blackberrys this is more time consuming but quite theraputic Pauline says the freezer canot take anymore but I keep picking anyway, she makes the most fantastic Blackberry and Apple pie’s in the winter ,its mainly what gets me through the cold dark days

In other parts of the garden fruit are also ripe ready for the taking, the Magpies love these Apples. Low to the ground the Autumn Cyclamen are starting to open in rough grass and summer Heathers are in bloom, its worrying that another season is going fast. On the bright side we have been able to enjoy it even more so as a GOU member.

Biting chickens - how horrible :o( I couldn't go near them I'm afraid !
I like your cyclamen. Do they come back every year ?

Hywel.
Yes the cyclamen are hardy the one shown would have seeded there from ones in a near by border, there are quite a few growing like that.I have to avoid cutting the grass short when they are dormant otherwise the tubers would be chopped off.

I've always grown them in tubs but they always die. Maybe I'll try some in the ground. I might have better success.

Hywel
you say you grow them in tubs do you buy them in flower in the garden ctrs if so they are not the same although similar in size they are not reliably hardy they are Cyclamen Persicum Hybrid what I am growing in the picture is Cyclamen hederifolium this fully hardy but takes about three years to flower from seed then carrys on year after year you leave them in the same place if possible under the edge of shrubs is idea.there is some seed i can send you if you wish and the P.O can manage not to loose it Louise1 has been waiting nearly 3 weeks for her packaage and we only live 30 miles apart!!

I had some hederifolium but I think they got killed last winter in that terrible cold we had. Thank you. I wouldn't mind some seeds. I'll send my address.

Thank you Bornagain it all comes at once they used to call it harvest time, although my blackberrys are a cultivated var the harvest of the wild blackberry around me is more than people will be able to pick I have not seen so many for years I sample them from different bushes when I am walking my dog every one tastes different.
