Challenging gardening!

hi,
I have recently got into gardening, my dad was always in the garden pottering around, so i think i got it from him!
we live on a narrow boat, so i have found a few problems.
if i grow a plant that likes shade, i have to remember to find it some shade if we mover the boat to somewhere new. same with a full sun plant!
i also have to clamber onto the top of the boat, my garden is on the roof! so this is very annoying when watering my plants. i have to fill my watering can, clamber onto roof, water what i can, clamber back down fill up again…..etc….
it gets very tiresome! i am thinking of getting a bilge pump wired up and just use that!
my cat also thinks the roof is his personal sunbed, and thinks nothing of wondering over my plants to get on/off the roof!
this year i have already had a lovely yummy lot of radishes! it was my first time ever growing veg, and i was very pleased.
i also have tomatos growing, spring onions ( LOADS!!) and a few garlics.
as well as flowers and other plants that have taken my fancy in the garden centre and nurserys.
hopefully as i get better at not killing plants i will have more to write on here!

Welcome to Goy, I have always loved the narrow boats we used to see them in Guildford on the river Wey. They often went past with the top covered in flowers, would love to see some more pictures of you boat. :^)

A big welcome from me - can we see photos of your narrow boat / garden?. It sounds very interesting and challenging, certainly very different from most of us on this site.
Those radishes look very tasty.

Wow a narrow boat to live on - David Essex springs to mind now, I love narrow boats. Never been on one, never likely to, no canals around here, but wow what a great life it must be. Pictures please please please, that would be such a change for all us gardeners. A bit like roof gardening I suppose. Different and unusual.

Ohh! A narrow boat! That's quite a challenge, you must put your plants on castors, so you can shufty them around when you shift moorings! Lol! Welcome to Goy from me too! Hope you enjoy it!
