I'm the volunteer gardener in a small, long-bandoned garden attached to the local Catholic priest's house here on the Solway Coast.Three years ago The Presbytery Garden was a rubble-strewn wilderness with a grass patch which may once have been a lawn. With a lot of help from friends and members of the local Community Service groupthe rubble was cleared, beds created, paths laid. I grow all my favourite cottage garden plants, plus shrubs and more special things donated by my partner, who cultivates our own garden. We usually have a programme of Coffee Mornings and Plant Sales at The Presbytery Garden - all cancelled this year, of course.
