I am a novice, and am attempting to create a garden of beauty, produce and practicality to cater for in no specific order I hasten to add.

i) A toddler
ii) An energetic spaniel
iii) Artistic directorship of my good lady wife

My garden was well cared for a number of years ago, but inherited a long area of grass with a few mature shrubs here and there. It points east at the back, with very open arable land behind, and is on a heavy clay soil in the foothills of the Chilterns.
