Early bees

I had a lovely day working in the garden today in warm sunshine. I was amazed to see my winter flowering clematis (Wisley Cream I think) full of bees. So glad I could provide food for these early risers.

How nice it must be to have a garden. Mine is under about 6 inches of snow - been that way for weeks! lol

I couldn't get close enough to see them as the clematis is growing up through a hawthorn tree. This is beneficial as the top is in sunshine most of the day when the weather is good. They looked fairly small so I guess they were honey bees making the most of an early snack.

I'm pleased to know your clematis attracted lots of bees :o) and that you had sunny weather.
We've had some nice sunshine here in Wales lately too, but it's been rather cold ...

I assume that these were honeybees though at this time of year it's usually " all hands on deck" staying within the hive to keep the temperature stable with outside foraging kept to a minimum. Have you seen any bumble bees?
