Hedgehog Liberation Front (HLF) - Make a hole in the fence

Every evening I can witness a lovely sight: I have a hedgehog in my garden. About 2 hours after dark it will come round to check out what’s on offer. I have given it a dome in which it finds fresh water, occasionally cat milk* , and suitable food (no fish!), usually cat food. It will have its fill and trundle off again.
It sometimes has some hedgehog visitors too. It is lucky as these hedgehogs can access neighbouring gardens despite the fences; diving under the fence where there is a drain and squeezing through the metal gate.
Many hedgehogs are not so lucky. To find a mate they have to cross roads and then tend to get squashed by cars. Plenty of roomy gardens are inaccessible due to their being hermetically closed off by fences on concrete bases. Not a gap remains.
GIVE THEM SPACE!. Make a hole in your fence to give hedgehogs their freedom back. They are already close to being an endangered species. As garden lovers we ought to do our bit. Tell your neighbours and friends.
Hedgehogs have the right to roam too. Make sure they can.
Thank you for reading this.
SUPPORT THE HLF!
- Cats and hedgehogs cannot digest lactose. Special cat milk has been treated so they have all the benefits of milk without any unpleasant side effects.

Great that you have them too. Lovely to watch. I feed mine cooked chicken some veg and cat food/biscuits, and nothing salty. Can I appeal to you about the cat milk though? as they cannot digest bread and cows milk gives hedgehogs very bad diarrhoea and many hedgehogs die because of this.

Thanks for the comment on the milk. I have now explained in the blog why special cat milk is safe whereas any other milk is not or may not be.

Lovely pics Clematisgirl, I have hedgehogs in every night often before it's dark, they chomp through the snails and slugs under the bushes on my slope. I have to admit I never feed them but they still come :-)))
