Whoo-hoo! Eureka! Yee-ha! Fan-dabba-doocie!! Have I won the lottery? I wish! Is it my birthday? No, that’s tommorrow! What’s all the excitement about then?

My garden, of course! What else?

My ignored, 10 year old New Zealand Flax (ID’d thanks to Bamboo, Seaburngirl and Vincentdunne) has sprouted a flowering spike for the first time in it’s life!

My indoor kitchen window sill tomatoes are sporting some tiny tomatoe buds, after much stressing over pollinating them!

Found some plugs of Leeks at a Garden centre, after despairing of finding any, without paying a fortune in postage!

My strawberries also also showing some mini strawberry buds!

My wonderful hubby put in my water butt, after waiting nicely for 3 months (good things come to those who wait)

My hosta’s are flowering, never managed that before…

The Rhodo is putting on a good show this year…

This 10 year old climbing rose finally reached the sky thro’ our lil’ apple tree last year with 3 flowers but is showing lots of buds and promise this year….

My blackcurrant bush is doing nicely, thanks very much,

as are the potatoes……

the Lollo Rossa lettuces….

and finally, the courgettes!

We may be in the doldrums financially, have to cope with stress with hubby’s j ob and travelling, I may not have good health but we have 2 wonderful children and pets, who bring us much love and laughter, and a garden that brings much pleasure!

Love your blog. Just goes to show that not everything good has a big price tag. You can't buy the pleasure you'll get from all those wonderful things. My New Zealand Flax is also throwing a flower spike for the first time and I'm looking forward to finding out what it looks like as I don't think I've seen one in flower before.

Linclass, hehe! That big word comes from a super childhood film! Stupidly I can't remember the name of it, but it's the one where the car flys! The children also get tricked into a "sweetie's" van and get kidnapped! Do you know which one I mean? My son did the 50mile cycle ride today and got rather wet! (but he did acutally wear his waterproofs, so that was something!)

Marguerite, a water butt collects rainwater from the water pipes, which in turn collects water from the roof of the house when it's raining. It's great for ponds and watering plants, esp. plants that only like rain water and not tap water.

Toto, you're right there! I've also never seen a N.Z. flax in flower before either, so will enjoy watching it "come out!"

No wonder you're full of the joys - everything looks so good. Do you add "a spoonful of sugar" to your plant food, by any chance? :-)

Oh, and "Happy Birthday" to you today !!

Never mind Mookins, I went to the garden centre in Diss, the Bressingham one, but it was a bit disappointing, nothing like the fabulous plants they used to have when Alan Bloom was still alive.

Only bought a pack of Osteopermums to underplant the Clematis'. I'm hoping to be well enough to plant them tommorrow and pray for no rain for me! Lol!!
