Guys
Thanks for your bog plants suggestions. Have any of you tried fritillaries. I have read of them being used in a bog but I have a good stand of them and they have coped very well with our drought.

Previous post: Bog plant ideas please
A created garden bog tends to be wet all through the year. When bulbs, including Frits, grow in wet areas in the wild the ground is only usually wet for a short time at the end of winter. The snow in the mountains melts and the rivers flood the surrounding meadows - the bulbs are in magnificent flower. But as summer progresses the ground dries up and can even become baked. This is the time that the bulbs are dormant and lasts well into the autumn.
I would be frightened that bulbs on a garden bog would rot during the summer and would plant them in a well drained area.
