We have a large wooden planter my son made for us, it is just outside the iron railings by the front door.
I planted it up with petunias, fucshias, bizze lizzies and lobelia and it was looking quite good.
Yesterday I was in my sewing room, my husband was reading in the garden. There was a crash, I though it was one of the farm vehicles going over a rough bit in the road….My husband came in to say that the pig farm manager had brought the pick up truck down with a trailer on, the trailer had broken away from the tow hitch and smashed into my planter.
The wood had shattered into the lining and ripped it, I managed to plug the hole with some bubble plastic and took off the top rail, we propped up the liner with some stakes.
A few minues earlier our car had been parked by the planter, had it happened then we could well have been carless……..
This morning said PFM arrived with two planks and repaired the damage….the plants appeared to be alright, I had to put more compost in and refirm some of them, but after a good water tonight it looks ok.
I have posted a couple of photographs of the planter.

Wow. Lucky you'd moved the car. So much more expensive to repair than a planter (although I can understand you being upset about the planter, too).
