On His Knees Again

OH started to weed the front beds again this morning. He is clearing out the yellow poppies, I do like them but just now they are in the wrong place.
We had rain at lunch time and it looks as if its going to throw it down anytime……we still have that very blustery wind.
The grass is still looking good, but if we get much more rain, the front will need doing again later in the week. No problem with the new mower.
I got a packet of apricot foxglove seed, I am going to sow some in a small tray and see how they go…..watch this space.
OH dug up another couple of shaws of spuds, not a bad yield and bigger than the one a couple of weeks ago. He is very pleased with the way they have broken up the soil. I can see the whole garden getting put down to spuds. The ground really is awful.

Lots of Goyers don't like lawns at all and those of us who do still carve slices off the edges every so often to widen the borders, but I reckon most of us would stop well before the whole garden was a potato field...
Csarina I look forward to seeing your apricot foxgloves next year - they sound gorgeous. I think we are all battling the weeds this summer. I've never had so much willowherb and however often its pulled out there's more before you've turned round... and before that it was speedwell though that seems to have more or less ground to a halt now.

As I have mentioned before, lived abroad a lot as a child, my parents kept the house in Kent while away and my oldest brother who is 16 years older then me lived there. He loathed gardening and would let it go wild. In between postings my father would come home, sort out the garden, dig up more of the lawn and plant his veg. :-)

My father had a thing about growing roses and veg. Every year the lawn got smaller as the veg patch got better till the lawn was only a quarter of the back garden. My mother put her foot down. I can just see it now, a potato field for a garden. :-)
