I have just come in from watering my balcony half-baskets using washing up liquid plastic bottles.
These provide a thin stream of water that is exactly the amount the compost can absorb. I do it twice daily. There is no mess with water spilled all over the place.
Gravel trays without the gravel are ideal for the greenhouse. I have all my plants together in them.
Just lob in 2 litres of water once daily, they are quite happy.
