Next door's cat was using my organic vegetable raised beds

as a toilet, which annoyed me. I had to put the hoops over each one, and cover them with netting to keep him off. Jeyes Fluid was not effective.
I have now found Doff’s Cat and Dog Repellent at my Garden Centre.
I sprayed just the bottom of the gate posts.
Then saw him yesterday come walking up the path,
when he was the 8ft. length of my greenhouse he suddenly stopped, sniffed, turned a sharp left, and went back over the fence onto his own garden. I have seen him do this twice now and am overjoyed.
Just spraying about 18" up the post doesnt use much.
It will obviously wash off when it rains, but can be replaced.
I have sprayed the Hydrangea tub at the top of the garden
to stop him entering from that direction.
Thank you Mr. Doff !

There are so often questions about this problem Diane, in fact there was one onlytoday. Good to know there is a remedy that really works.

Give the cat a week or two and it will be using this stuff as cologne:)

I find the best way to deter cats from using garden as a toilet is to plant plants as closely together thereby avoiding any bare patches they like to use. I find I don't seem to have a problem in winter but in the spring when plants are still small I use chicken wire until my plants bush out more. I live surrounded by 7 cats belonging to various neighbours so have had to get doggie bags to sometimes remove the mess.

Thank you all for the replies. I do like cats. Understand
them. The hoops covered with fruit cage netting was effective, but a nuisance to keep moving to weed and gather crops.
Will continue to monitor.
Reynardin used to keep rabbits off, tipped onto a rag which was placed under a hut to prevent it being washed in the rain.

Will you keep us posted Diane - really interested to see how effective this remains. Did you see the recent question?

Yes. Not really practicable to put plants close together.
Everything grows.
